Special requests, allergies, our experienced team and wedding planners are well versed in ensuring your special day runs smoothly and just how you want it to.

Below are a few of the most frequently asked questions, however if there’s anything you’d like to know – please contact us for more information.

What is the smallest/largest wedding party you can cater for?

We’ve hosted weddings of all shapes and sizes, ranging from two to 150 guests seated and served for dinner in a marquee, to just the bride and groom (we’ve even stepped in as witnesses before now!).

Do you have access for less/disabled guests?

Yes, we have disabled access.

Is there suitable access for buses or coaches?

Yes. We can supply you with contacts for local companies.

Can we setup the day before?

Yes, although this depends on whether we have a function the day before.

Can we decorate the marquee and/or wedding rooms to our own taste?

Yes, absolutely!

It’s your special day and we’ll do our best to help make it just the way you want it. You can supply table decorations, flowers, lighting, candles ( no real flame in pavilion), chair covers to sashes to personalise your wedding.

Can we hire out the hotel exclusively?

Yes you can, however there will be a charge for this.

Do we have to block book all of the accommodation?

No, there’s no obligation to book all of our rooms for your wedding.

Can we have fireworks?

Now you’re talking!

Sure, however, for safety reasons all fireworks must be supplied and set off by a member of Mabie House Hotel staff, with a 10pm limit.

Can we bring our own wine/champagne?

Yes, you are more than welcome to supply your own wine and/or champagne, we just require a corkage charge per bottle served.

This can be served after the ceremony and during the wedding breakfast.

Do we need to pay a deposit for the Garden Pavilion?

Yes, a 30% deposit is required to confirm the Pavilion hire on booking your date with the 70% balance due four weeks before the big day.

All deposits are non-refundable.

Do we need to pay a deposit for a wedding within the hotel?

Yes. We request a deposit of £500 (non-refundable) to secure your day, which is later deducted from your final bill.

When is the food payment due?

Payment for food is due one before the big day, which is also when we require details of final numbers and pre-orders.

Drinks, accommodation and any other extras can be settled after.

Can we throw confetti?

Yes, no problem at all.

However we would ask that it is only thrown outside and is biodegradable.

Do you have a red carpet/cake stand/cake knife?

Yes we do, you are welcome to use any of these with no charge.

Do you have a children’s option for meals?

Yes, we offer a range of kid-friendly meal options ranging from fish fingers, nuggets or sausage and chips to half portions of adults meals at half price.

I have a food allergies and/or intolerance, is this a problem?

No, not at all

If you let us know you dietary requirements we can cater for these, although we work in an environment that uses certain ingredients, such as nuts.  Speak to us, we’ll do our best to help.

Are we able to provide our own catering?

Yes, in the Garden Pavilion only though. Please speak to us to arrange.

My husband and I got married here on the 7th October and we really could not have chosen a better venue. From the comfortable cozy rooms to the great food and the remarkable staff, Mabie House delivered on all fronts. Basil kept our guests both young and old amused through the day and the staff went out their way to ensure the day went off without a hitch. Even trailing through Dumfries to look for a snoopy. We really could not recommend Mabie House enough as both a wedding venue and a hotel! 5 stars! We shall be back!
